How a Story Slam Spawned a Chapbook & Chapbook Project

Marvelous things can happen when you trust in the power of a prompt. In 2018 Elizabeth Wolf’s poetry memoir won the Rattle Chapbook Prize and changed her writing life. During the pandemic, she shared that chapbook and a series of prompts with the Prisoner Express program, inviting hundreds of incarcerated people from all over the country to share their stories. In this session we will be reading poems as well as talking about chapbooks and creating prompts. There will be timed writing exercises and a copy of her chapbook Did You Know? is included with registration.
