A conversational poem is unmistakable: intimate, often chatty and familiar, sometimes disarmingly honest and affective. In this discussion-workshop, we'll explore the idea of conversation and poetry through the works of Frank O'Hara (American, 1926-1966). What makes a conversation worthy of a poem? What techniques are at work underneath lines that sound so freshly talkative? Examples for discussion will be provided ahead of time.
Participants are invited (but not required) to workshop a poem or excerpt of a longer work in which "conversation" plays a key part. Adam will be in touch to arrange.
No previous experience required. Open to all who like reading and want to learn more about the craft of writing.
