I Am From: Telling Your Story Through Poetry with Elizabeth S. Wolf

  • GWC 126 East Main Street Gloucester, MA, 01930 United States (map)

Poems can be powerful magic. Are you looking for ways to begin or strengthen the stories you tell? In 2023 Elizabeth traveled to rural Ghana to give workshops in a boarding house to kids struggling with literacy. Using carefully selected prompts, we guided 16 students aged 9-17 to write about their origin and identity. In this session we’ll talk about the project, the potency of prompts, and read some of their poetry. There will be timed writing exercises and a copy of I Am From: Voices from the Mako House in Ghana is included with registration.
